World-renowned, the multi-sport club FC Barcelona is synonymous with sportsmanship and high-quality performance. Founded in 1899, the club attracts millions of followers and fans year after year, as well as a large number of tourists and visitors to its facilities (sporting events, the Camp Experience Museum, conferences, stores, etc.). The Joan Gamper Sports City is a sports complex of FC Barcelona, covering more than 150,000 m², where training sessions for the first team, second team, and youth academy teams take place.

The need of FC Barcelona at the Joan Gamper Sports City was to effectively manage and control the large influx of pedestrians and vehicles that visit these facilities on a daily basis. In addition, it was necessary to achieve seamless integration with their security systems.

⟶ Solution Technology

The technological solution provided by Innova has been the installation of our SIRAM OCR5 Access Control software and the SIRAM Compact capture unit at the entrance of the premises for automatic license plate recognition. Taking into account the constant flow of people and vehicles, as well as the need to monitor access to the premises, FC Barcelona has chosen to combine their access control system at the Joan Gamper facility with our LPR (License Plate Recognition) SIRAM technology to enhance efficiency and security. There is no doubt: the access control system implemented at FC Barcelona’s facilities has represented a major challenge in terms of integration and synchronization of the LPR system via the Wiegand protocol. SIRAM OCR is an advanced technology that enables accurate and reliable automatic license plate recognition through the deployment of capture units or LPR cameras.

The facilities at the Joan Gamper Sports City of Futbol Club Barcelona require versatile and 100% reliable capture units. Moreover, the SIRAM Compact LPR camera fits perfectly into the available space on the parking access island.

Thanks to the integration protocols of OCR5, a seamless integration of LPR technology with the existing access control system has been achieved through the Wiegand protocol.
