Barcelona’s public mobility entity, B:SM, provides services that promote sustainable and efficient mobility in the city. In addition, it develops sustainability plans by encouraging the use of public transportation in order to reduce polluting emissions.

With more than 40 car parks throughout the city of Barcelona, ​​B:SM manages more than 13,000 spaces for all types of vehicles. B:SM car parks offer a service that prioritizes quality where sustainable mobility policies are favored, as they help to reduce many last-mile journeys and lighten surface traffic. Taking into account the high number of motorcycles in Barcelona, ​​B:SM was looking for a solution to recognize motorcycle license plates and facilitate the implementation of ticketless systems.

To implement this type of ticketless system, it is necessary to have technology that guarantees maximum precision and reliability of the license plate reading and recognition systems. LPR OCR5 software has been the best choice for motorcycle rear reading. To this end, LPR cameras have been installed to read motorcycle license plates from the rear at entrances and exits, which has made it possible to implement a ticketless service for motorcycle owners.

The high reliability rate of SIRAM OCR5 allows drivers and motorcycle users to enter and exit parking lots without the need to use the conventional card, since the cameras installed when recognizing license plates cause the barriers to rise automatically without user intervention.
