Not all vehicles are the same… nor their license plates. Trucks, motorcycles, cars, trailers… Each type has its own characteristics, but one category poses a particularly complex challenge for access control systems: large industrial vehicles like trucks and trailers.

Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) in these cases is especially challenging. The larger dimensions make traditional focusing difficult. Rear license plates are often in unconventional locations. Additionally, the presence of multiple plates—one on the tractor unit and another on the trailer—further complicates the process. On top of this, these vehicles operate in harsh environmental conditions such as dust, rain, or low lighting, common in logistics zones, ports, and industrial facilities.

These situations cause traditional ALPR systems to produce errors or false negatives too often. That’s why at Innova Systems Group, we developed a specific AI-based solution: SIRAM OCR combined with MultiCamLane, our system designed to simultaneously detect front and rear license plates—even when there are differences between them or under challenging conditions.

The result is a system with a much higher accuracy rate, even for dirty or damaged license plates. Reading errors are drastically reduced, providing reliable access control regardless of vehicle type or conditions. SIRAM OCR and MultiCamLane form a robust and effective combination, ideal for demanding environments such as logistics centers, port terminals, industrial parking lots, or high-security zones.

Discover how SIRAM OCR and MultiCamLane reduce false negatives and boost accuracy in your access control system!

Technology Designed for Industrial Vehicles

Both SIRAM OCR and MultiCamLane intelligently adapt to reading license plates on heavy vehicles (trucks, trailers), solving common issues faced by traditional LPR systems such as dirty, damaged, or unusually placed plates. Installing multiple LPR cameras in the same truck lane (MultiCamLane) enables better detection, significantly increasing reading accuracy. Our technology can uniquely identify the front and rear plates of the same vehicle, even when other vehicles pass through the same lane. This makes it an ideal tool for environments where trailers frequently change or have different plates.
